Karlovsky lab: Molecular Phytopathology and Mycotoxin Research

Gaenseliesel Karlovsky lab - people Karlovsky lab 2020: Soil sampling for microbiome analysis Karlovsky lab: analytical chemistry News from Karlovsky lab

About our research

Our lab investigates biological functions of secondary metabolites (specialized metabolites) such as mycotoxins in microbial ecology. Our recent research focused on fungal chemical defense, relationship between soil microbiome and plant health, and enzymatic detoxification of mycotoxins. We also carry out applied research related to fungal infection and mycotoxin contamination of grain crops. Our main tools are gene expression analysis, gene disruption in fungi, inventories of microbial communities by next generation sequencing, nontargeted metabolic profiling, and bioassays with small invertebrates.
